RDC's 500,000 sf Pacwest Center opened in 1984, in partnership with Morgan Stanley and Mitsubishi Estate Company. Russell selected the architect, Hugh Stubbins, for his then-recent success with Citicorp Center in New York City. The Wall Street Journal named Pacwest Center one of the Top 10 Towers in America in 1997.
